You need to consider a number of variables before you begin your search for a new manufactured home.  The following checklist should help you determine your basic housing needs - and assist a manufactured home retailer or their representative in showing you the right home for you and your family...

WHAT TYPE OF HOME DO YOU NEED?

  • How many people in your family?

  • Adults? Children?

These questions should help you determine the size of the home (square footage) you'll need, type of home (single or multi-section), and the number of bedrooms, bathrooms and storage space requirements for you.

WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT IN A HOME?

  • Low Price?

  • Size (square footage)?

  • Energy Efficiency?

  • Features and Options?

These areas should help you determine which types of homes and which manufacturers best suit your needs.

WHERE WILL THE HOME BE PLACED AFTER PURCHASE?

  • On land you own?

  • On land you're purchasing?

  • In a manufactured home community or park?

Home placement will greatly affect your monthly cost of housing - including utilities, property taxes, land cost or rent and insurance - thereby influencing the purchase price of a house you can afford.

 WHAT IS YOUR HOUSING BUDGET?

  • How much can you pay down?

  • How much can you pay monthly for all of  your housing costs - including those factors mentioned above?

For most buyers, the monthly housing    costs determine what type and size home is possible.  And manufactured homes typically offer more value "dollar-for-dollar" than site-built homes for a smaller monthly  payment.
